    Yeah in LSU's case, we gave up so many huge plays that the first down conversion rate was the only thing that saved us from being much further down in the total defense rankings. Not many people would have guessed we were only as far down as #37 in the nation in total defense.

    I agree turnovers are critical. We did a terrible job with that this season.

    NELA brings up some great points.

    On the other hand, Clemson's poor 3rd down conversion rate prevented them from being an elite defense.

    Thats why I'm excited about this guy as at DC. I believe our elite talent level will make the difference.

    Why was Koenning not kept by Clemson since the new head coach came from inside? Sorry if I missed it

    It is rumored that he and Dabo Swinney did not get along, Swinney wanted him to be much more aggressive (blitzing) and he does not blitz with anyone except an extra linebacker.

    Also, VK thinks he should have been promoted, not Swinney. Thus the rift through the rest of the season.

    Funny thing is, their "alleged" dysfunctional relationship had Clemson's defense playing much better the last 6-7 games of the season (#2 in the nation just behind USC I would guess).

    I don't know if anyone but Sweeny knows the real reason, but I think the two never got along.

    I don't know why everybody thinks our talent is so much better than every other schools. I would say our talent is on par with Clemson's talent. I mean besides Tyson Jackson and Patrick Peterson on our defense will play in the pros. I really don't see any of our LBs, rest of defensive line, or DBs will be playing on Sundays. I am sure there are 2 clemson players that will play on Sunday.
