I still think Nix is the best choice. Nix's defenses are more aggressive and I think his resume of success at USM is more impressive. 2nd best choice is Chavis. Koenning is ok at least it is an upgrade over Mallory/Peveto.

    My choice was Chavis.

Not sure about Koenning just yet, and I don't want to say "I'll take anything at this point", but honestly I think a lot of us feel that way.

I just went on a Clemson Tiger board, and of course you gotta realize these are some pissed off fans the way he blabbed about how he was done wrong and his defensive stats warranting him a shot at interim coach, etc. The prevailing attitude is the "bend but don't break" type defense and they hated it when the other team converted on 3rd and longs.

They also believe Sam Montgomery is the recruit he is talking about coming along with him. I hope so.

It sure has been quiet today, I think it is not going to happen anytime soon and I don't think Vic Koenning is going to get the job. I just haven't seen any national buzz on this at all today.

Yeah, I'm kinda wondering too. There may be a deal in place but they want to keep it on wraps for now.

I have been so jealous of :eek:lefire: this year, because of Nix. It looks like as long as :milesmic: is here, we will have a bend but don't break D. You'd think he'd know by now all we care about is aggressive D. I support him, but it makes me wonder. Is there not anyone in a position of power to make CLM realize this? If we get VK I am sure we will do okay, a good QB and a fundamentally sound D and we probably only lose 2-3 games tops each year. Its just as a fanbase we feed off aggressive D!!

I came across these rankings based on advanced football metrics. The two links below explain them. Way too complex for me, but i thought islstl might like them:

    2007 - #48
    2008 - #9

Is anyone else bothered by the idea that a DC in consideration would dangle that he will bring a 5-star recruit with him? On the surface, I do not like that. Yes, I would like to have the player if HE wants to be at LSU, but I don't know that I want a DC who us floating that if he is hired this short-term reward is ours. Sounds like fluff to cover poor substance to me. I am still hoping for Nix or Chavis, personally.

I'll go ahead and submit my resume' and only ask for $250,000 for my effort. Hell I couldn't do worse then our current situation has.

I think that might have been more of a dig at his previous employer - there seems to be some bitterness there. But even bringing it up seems a bit...I don't know...chippy or something. Sort of bitchy, in a way, regardless of the motivation. Might reveal a slight character issue. Not sure what kind, though.:geaux:
