Anyone know if Vic coaches from the booth or the sideline? One of the negatives of Chavis was that he's a booth guy. I like having a guy on the sidelines getting those players fired up.

I would think that the defense would have to stifling and LSU win another NC for him to get another shot. He was already a head coach at Wyoming and had a dismal record, something to the tune of 5-26 or similar.

Vic Koenning is 48, Chavis is 52. Chavis stayed at Tennessee so long because he played ball there under Johnny Majors. Like Fulmer, he was a Tennessee man.

Assuming Chavis does come to LSU with the attitude that LSU is going to be the last stop of his coaching career, then who do you think would be motivated to do better: a guy hoping to move on to better things, or a guy looking at his job like it is the last stop of his career?

If Chavis does come to LSU, I hope he looks at it like a stepping-stone job to better things, so that he is motivated to impress the world of football. In three years, Chavis will be 55. I hope he realizes that there are plenty of college programs that have hired guys 55 or older to be their current head coaches:

Florida Atlantic hired Schellenberger when he was 67.
San Jose St hired Dick Tomey when he was 67.
Tulane hired Bob Toledo when he was 61.
Ohio hired Frank Solich when he was 61.
Kentucky hired Rich Brooks when he was 60.
South Carolina hired Spurrier when he was 60.
Arizona State hired Erickson when he was 60.
NC State hired Tom O'Brien when he was 59.
Hawaii hired Greg McMackin when he was 59.
UTEP hired Mark Price when he was 59.
UCF hired George O'Leary when he was 58.
Virginia hired Al Groh when he was 57.
West Virginia hired Bill Stewart when he was 56.
UNC hired Butch Davis when he was 56.
Bama hired Saban when he was 56.

In his bio that was on here earlier, it stated that he was a LB in college.

A three-year starting linebacker and team captain at Kansas State, Koenning led that team to the 1982 Independence Bowl, the school's first-ever bowl appearance. He was the recipient of the Paul Coffman Award, presented to the Wildcat who displays the most outstanding leadership. Koenning pursued a playing career with the Denver Broncos, Oklahoma Outlaws (USFL), and Green Bay Packers between 1983-86

How about if Peveto is kept on staff as LB coach, we will certainly continue to have mediocre linebacker play?
