    School: Clemson
    Position: DC since 2005

    Facts:
-- Clemson has been in the top 25 in scoring, rushing, total, and pass efficiency defense each season.
-- Has coached a Top 32 selection in each of the last four years (Phillip Merling, Gaines Adams, Tye Hill and Demarcus Ware).
-- Marked improvement in defenses wherever he has coached in his young career.

    Comments:
Koenning coaches the DB's as well, giving LSU a much needed change in coaching there. His 2007 defense started nine underclassmen and finished #9 overall in total defense and #10 in scoring defense, but only one player was named to the All-AC team. Sounds like a true team effort and not a defense being carried on the back of a single great player.

Not to steal someone else's thunder, but I assumed this name was about to pop up anyway... :hihi:

Might also help ensure Loston and a few others show up... where'd Clemson finish this season in total D.

    Another solid choice.

Nice format to the thread title. I wonder who came up with that? lol

Everyone should have this link bookmarked: http://web1.ncaa.org/mfb/mainpage.jsp

    This is how Clemson finished:
    Run defense: #37 (127.6 ypg)
    Pass defense: #12 (167.2 ypg)
    Total defense: #16 (294.8 ypg)
    Scoring Defense: #9 (16.6 ppg)

His secondary started three seniors, hence the better performing Pass Defense. The front seven started two seniors, two juniors, two sophomores and one redshirt freshman. The defense this year is noticeably absent of stars. Mike Hamlin at Safety is the only real talent to note of that will be making a splash in the NFL draft and he's likely a 3rd round pick at best. Dorrel Scott has been a RJF-sized disappointment this year when he was supposed to fill the void of star player left by Phillip Merling's exit to the draft last season.

Maybe if he becomes our DC he can make "jokes" to the press during game week about recruits getting Escalades. Im sure Miles would love that.
