Here's an interesting scenario: Tubby sits out a year collecting a check from Auburn. ND fires Weis, hires Saban. Tubby ends up at Bama. Stranger things have happened.
Its just spin. There is no way in hell they would pay that buy out, especially one that big unless he was fired.
Yep thats what he claims: http://www.google.com/hostednews/ap/article/ALeqM5jMGvEm5sXFFs8lK628aIVEX0gcQQD94S1LHG1
the administration can spin it any way they'd like, but I can point to 5.1 million reasons that prove he was he was fired/forced-out ..... but in fairness, it is common to refer to it as a resignation. there were certainly some valid criticisms of tuberville's performance, but it's a bit like throwing the baby out with the bathwater, IMO. Tuberville's buyout prorates from $6.0M to $5.1M, with the first $2.1M due in 30 days and the remainder due 12 months from today. Tuberville will not coach in 2009, perhaps never.
Not sure how you can say that, he was a hot commodity until about 3 months ago. He may not be back in 2009, although I wouldn't bet against it, but I find it hard to believe he is finished. He has a proven track record in a big time conference, someone will come calling.
no chance bama hires a barner. even if the barner was god himself. it just will never happen. that, you can book.
Tubby sits out this off season. Mid year next year he will be the talk of ADs looking for a quick fix for their programs. "Hey lets fire our coach in October because Tubby is available". Bet he can collect his $5.1, vacation some and then name his price for the new gig.
What about Tubberville's DC Paul Rhodes? Auburn's Defense finished: 26th total defense 23rd pass defense 53rd rush defense 17th scoring defense http://web1.ncaa.org/football/exec/rankingSummary?year=2008&org=37 His tenure at Pitt: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paul_Rhoads
Auburn suffered our fate in the Bama game that we suffered all season. They played great in the first half against bama, but after to many 3 and outs or turnovers... I think the Auburn defense gave up. But they've also been eaten up a good bit my lesser teams in the sec all season long.
