I'm ducking before the diddley poo hits the fan! As a Tiger fan, I can never forgive Tele-Tubby for desecrating the Eye of the Tiger. Having said that, he was DC for a University of Miami National Championship team. Don't shoot the messenger.
Tubby will get a HC job somewhere. As much as I dislike him he is a pretty good coach, he just needs to surround himself with better recruiters.
On my way into work today, I was wondering what the chances might be that Mike Leach and Tommy Tubberville wind up just switching teams. Another very viable option for Tubberville is the University of Washington gig.
Tubberville can sit back and relax for at least a year and just rake in a huge paycheck. He won't be a coordinator and he doesn't have to take a sub par head coaching job. I can't stand him because of his antics against LSU in the past, but he is a good coach because he has won with less talented recruits than most other top tier schools. Other AD's know this and will eventually make him an offer when the right job comes along.
I can see that. I think Tuberville would be a better bet for schools like Tennessee, ND, Miami, and Nebraska than the coaches they are currently stuck with.
It's either HC or bust for Tommy T. He is still a hot name in coaching circles. Most sane people outside the SEC see how good a coach Tuberville is. He will be a head coach either this year or next.
Supposedly he is to receive $6M within the next year. Good luck trying to find me if someones is ever dumb enough to pay me that kind of money. Wonder if his buyout is impacted by his alleged "resignation" ?
seeing as they are paying him the buyout... I'm guessing it is a PR move however if they were paying me a buyout that large I would tell them they can call it whatever the hell they want to call it as long as I get my money. If he truly resigned, they would have no legal obligation to pay the buyout to him.
The Auburn AD and president said that his resignation came as a shock and they "tried to talk him out of it". I call BS on this and is Auburn's attempt to spin it in the media.
