So given all of his "success" in the pros and with Syracuse, we judge him based on one year with Texas. Sounds good to me.
The Broncos had him for 5 years before they sent him to KC. They won two Super Bowls during that time frame but I don't know how much of that I would attribute to his schemes and defensive play calling. He had a number of All Pro defenders that made his job easier.
He was head coach at Syracuse, not DC. Whole different job. Look at Gene Chizik, he was a great DC at Auburn and then Texas, and he is sucking at Iowa State (5-19 record). As for his "success" in the pros, it impressed Mack Brown enough that Brown hired him as his DC at Texas.
I agree that this would be the most disappointing hire for DC. This guy has managed to never do anything, but if you move around enough no one ever figures it out. However, Syracuse finally kept him around for longer than three years and his incompetence showed.
syracuse is dead. not many can turn that place around. all the talent in the NE are going to either rutgers or PSU. not the cuse. to compare apples to apples i'd rather look at him as a DC in other places and not a head guy.
Again, he was 'CO-DC" at Texas. Your going to compare Iowa FREAKIN State with Syracuse? Google up the history of Iowa State and then google up Syracuse's. Googly google goo...
Up until Robinson was hired the Cuse had a good program for 15 years or so under Pasqu whatever his name was. They have decent history, a nice budget and facilities. They only died after Robinson took over.
someone told me their facilities are terrible. you may know better than i. syracuse started to nose dive in 02. robinson didn't take the job till 05.
