Look, Carter taking a knee on the one yard line was a boneheaded mistake, and Lee eyeballing one guy down 11 games into the season and STILL throwing pick 6's is boneheaded, freshman mistake or not. "Freshman mistake" is an overused term in college football... unless it's an LSU QB?
I can live with Mallory as a DB coach. Just glad to see Miles is going to bring in an experienced DC. :crystal::geaux::crystal::geaux::crystal:
yes it is boneheaded. all I'm saying is he probably got away with that in high school. doesn't work in college. did you miss the part where I said this exact same thing? some were all on Lee, some the rest of the O has to share still an overused term. you just picked a bad example. the play against Bama where he pussed out that you like to bring up so much? not a freshman mistake. that is called being scared. throwing the ball in the stands on 4th down? not a freshman mistake, dumb move at any level. staring down a receiver and throwing into double coverage that may have worked in high school? definition of freshman mistake.
Yes. I did afterwards, and I removed what I said as soon as I hit "submit reply," Mr. Quick Draw. Unfortunately, that may have been one of the more intelligent decisions. I won't bend on this one. Staring down one guy on every play of every series for 11 straight games is boneheaded and shows a huge lack of improvement or ability. I watched every single game this year, and I saw Lee look at another guy maybe 3 or 4 times all season, and that's being gracious. Staring down one guy is definitely a freshman mistake, but every single play? No. That's just bad QB play. And now that I've derailed the thread, I digress. Oh, and Mallory should be packing his bags.
I disagree that Miles will be gone after next year no matter what happen unless LSU posts a donut in the W column. LSU would owe Miles too much money for the buyout to be able to afford his buyout and hire a top flight coach. Not that I would want Miles fired or even suggesting this; however, Miles is in a position where he has the LSU Ath. Dept. over the barrel. They can't force any changes on him because of the buyout in his contract. It was stated to be 15 million at the high end and if fired after next year would be still be in the 8-10 million range.
Depending on circumstances, that may not be as far-fetched as you think. Saban is a big X-factor. If he ends up with an SEC title and possibly national title next year, the outcry from our fan base will dwarf anything we've seen on this forum, especially if we're looking at 5+ losses again and Miles makes no significant changes in several areas, especially defense. The camp who thinks Miles "won the NC with Saban's players" will be screaming bloody murder, and with attendance already reported to be declining this season, enough season ticketholders and boosters may be willing to swallow a buyout and stop any more additional bleeding. FWIW, I don't think this is likely to happen, but then again I never thought we'd get blown out by Ole Miss at home either. After getting a taste of the big time, our fans are not gonna settle for going back to the Hallman/Dinardo years, especially after just 2 seasons removed from a NC.
