Great post. What people might fail to realize is LSU didn't lack aggressiveness in trying to pressure the QB, the scheme was simply deplorable and basically put our DBs in a bad position with sending 6 or 7 guys and not getting anything out of it. It's akin to the government throwing money at our problems. Well that won't solve anything if the money isn't spent effectively.
If Walker is the hire, I wonder if race would be a factor. I'll bet under the surface a lot of LSU's African-American players resent both the dismissal of Perrilloux and the devotion to Jarrett Lee over Jordan Jefferson. Such resentment could foster the bad attitudes and the giving up we saw late in the year. Could a Walker hire be a cosmetic move?:tigerhead
Perrilloux should have been dismissed and probably would have been dismissed earlier if he wasn't our future at QB. The decision to go with Jarrett Lee should not be construed as devotion, but was only a byproduct of who had enough experience after Hatch was injured. Jefferson, being a true freshman had virtually no time to learn the system. If any African-American players resent the QB situation based on race they are misinformed, misguided, or both. I don't believe race will play a part in who Miles hires as a DC.
It's really not that funny. Players are motivated by so many things, and emotion often supersedes logic. I'm not saying the players would have been right to resent CLM's moves. I'm just saying it's possible they did. Watch Auburn's veterans next year, for example. They surely heard Charles Barkley's comments about hiring Gene Chizik over Turner Gill. If things go wrong early in the War Eagles' season . . . the subconscious works in mysterious ways. BTW, The Dude. Fargo and The Man Who Wasn't There are the Coen brothers' best films! :thumb:
TC, thats circular logic. Miles stayed with J.Russell for the most part when many fans wanted Matt Flynn. Let Auburns chaos be Auburn chaos, hell this aint Alabama, if you know what I mean. Miles will hire the best person for the job, without considerations.
I tend to agree with you. But you would concede that CLM didn't "hire the best person for the [DC] job" last time around, wouldn't you?
Thats evident, I think loyalty had something to do with the hires. However, I think it was more defensive philosophy than anything. He probably felt that those guys had learned enough under Pelini and would carry out Pelinis aggressiveness. That failed, he has to move on and he realizes that. In the end loyalty doesnt put food on his table.
