I want a guy like 49-year-old Bud Foster of VT or 48-year-old Charlie Strong of FL, but I seriously doubt it will ever happen (0.0000001% chance). I'll be excited about anybody else we get, unless it is someone that I think sucks.

I wanted Bud Foster last year, but that guy bleeds VT football. He's not going anywhere.

I think Miles would cure every bit of the "implosion syndrome" a lot of people are having if he went out and got the AD to throw the bank at Muschamp. LSU fans would storm the streets with tears in their eyes rejoicing in the name of Miles.

    But that won't happen either.

No, it won't happen, because the head coaching job at UT has already been promised to Muschamp as soon as Mack retires. They've also agreed to pay the man $900,000/yr. Texas will never let him go.

thats where you're mistaken. everyone is aware of the deal with the texas agreement but that means absolutely nothing.

auburn may be close to signing him as we speak or so some say.

if will muschamp takes a job like auburn and turns them back into a contender in the west for a handful of years, his value will be quadruple what it is to texas-with many other teams in the mix, as opposed to now.

its a win/win for him. he gets the cash now and it will be much more than 900k.

plus he could die tomorrow. this would be best for his family now.

I don't see any logic in that. His move to Texas was a lateral transfer. He didn't make any more money from it than he would've made his next year at Auburn. Then, even though his future is assured at Texas, with a front runner status to be a head coach at a Tier-1 university, he would go back to a struggling, rebuilding Auburn team? A team where the head coaching position might have some changes if things continue like they are? For what? He already has a proven record. And do you really think Auburn is going to pay him over double of what he was previously making to lure him back? A salary that is more than what many Division 1 head coaches are making? Please.

Right, but Auburn would be making him their head coach, paying him, like you mentioned $2 to $3 mil. Nobody would be surprised to see Will leave a holding position at Texas to take a head coach job at Auburn. Same thing with Jimbo, the head-coach-in-waiting at FSU, some say he's a candidate to be Auburn head coach, which is not surprising.

But we here at LSU aren't looking for a head coach. We are looking for a DC to replace the $400,000/year DC spot that we paid to Mallveto for 2008 ($200k each) -- we paid DC Pelini $350K in 2007. If Texas has promised Will that he is the next head coach of Texas, why would he come to LSU to be our DC? That was USMTiger's original point.

Addendum: Life has been hectic and I guess I missed the part where Tubby was fired last week. I was thinking he had another year. That changes my opinion on these things a bit, and makes me look retarded.

Unless I had inside info that Mack Brown was going to retire soon, that would be a tempting offer, despite the fact that it is an SEC school. Although, the benefit of being a Big 12 coach is longevity. I mean, look how long Franccione stayed at A&M, despite sucking.

If Muschamp came to Auburn as a first time head coach, he'd have a monumental job cut out for him, and if the program didn't turn around immediately, he would get thrown off the wagon like every other coach in the SEC who doesn't win a National Champ in two years :)

    Pretty please.

    thats what i just said.
he wouldnt. the discussion was about him going to AU to be the head coach.:huh:I figured out he was confused all on my own. see below:

    no just lacking the info.
plus hes the chosen one-WM that is. means his leash will be longer than some unknown from another conference.
agree and as long as it wasnt a monumental collapse like greg robinson at Syracuse, then he would still be a desirable hire elsewhere.

not so sure it would be texas though. depends on his success or lack of.

for the record, I have a cousin who played with Nix at USM under bauer and i think he said peveto was there as well as john thompson.

he really liked nix and said he was the leader of their d. i think his brother derrick is the all-time rusher there as well.
