Also, look at who we signed last year. Safety Shomari Clemons Stefoin Francois Chad Jones CB Delvin Breaux (not with the team yet, believe he will be in the spring) Ron Brooks Phelon Jones John Williams Taking 7 last year (although 5 were athletes), and probably 6 this year seems crazy! Especially as highly recruited as all these guys are/were. It makes me wonder if these young guys aren't developing at the pace we'd like... At any rate, our defensive backfield should be nasty in a couple years!
We are extremely thin at CB...next year our CB rotation will have Hawkins and Eugene..and a transfer walk on from Ole Miss. That's it for experience..who knows if Jones or Williams or Brooks will work out - we need to sign several to ensure the future imo.
Thought I'd bring this thread back from the dead, and put some new info on it. Sonny recently said that Derrick Bryant will start off as a Safety at LSU, but could play CB. I was under the impression that it was the other way around. So now we are sitting with 3 Safeties & 3 CBs committed, which would match the 6 that Sonny suggessted at the beginning of the recruiting period. However, we could still take one more.
I know we need other areas but I really feel that CB and LB are where we need the most help going into next year. I cant see turning down TJ Bryant or Harris if they want LSU. I also hope we can get McCray. Im very comfortable with the young talent LSU has at OL. Barksdale and Jones will be studs, plus there is other young talent.
