DB recruiting has gotten so interesting, that I thought it deserves its own thread. 1. Will Chad Jones sign with the Astros? Coaches feel good about getting him on the field, but we won't find out for sure for a while. 2. Delvin Breaux has been cleared to play football next year & will join the team in January. Does he count against this year's numbers or last? Nobody really seems to completely understand how early signees work, including myself. 3. Jason Teague was a recruit from 2 years ago who the coaches really liked and will be eligible as he leaves JUCO this year & is looking for a D1 college. Would the coaches take a commitment from him? We lose our top 2 corners, there's immediate PT to be had if a JUCO came in ready to play... We currently have 4 DB commits: Duplessis (versatile safety, can line up as LB) St. Julien (physical corner), Derrick Bryant (physical corner, can play S), B. Taylor (excellent corner). We have left on the board: Hatcher (amazing Safety), TJ Bryant (amazing lockdown CB), Prentiss Waggner & Robby Green - 4 stars from JT Curtis, neither of which has been very impressive at camps. We also have the Rivals top 100 CB from Mississippi that favors us, can't remember his name right now(edit: Mitchell, who doesn't currently have an LSU offer & won't stay in the Rivals 100). I've read that we expect to take 6 DBs this class (according to Sonny). I don't think that includes Breaux, so it's out of the guys listed right above (or so it appears at this point). I sure hope we get Hatcher & TJ Bryant... I'll be dissapointed if we take Waggner. I'd be fine with Green.
1. We won't know until August 15. 2. If he enters in January, my understanding is that we can count him against EITHER 2007 or 2008, whichever one has the room. Obviously, you'd want to apply it to 2007 if there is room there. 3. I really don't know. He'd have to be re-evaluated, and if he hasn't really developed, we probably wouldn't even consider it.
I really like Teague has good height and speed.Think we have a nice chance at getting T.J Bryant also. Watching film of Derrick Bryant and think he could be a 4 Star by the end.
so apparently patrick johnson, #3 rated rivals player, soft verbaled to miam,i is visiting LSU this weekend. any realistic shot with him?
We had no shot at Kuli before he visited, now he's an LSU lean...so yes, with a great visit and a great game experience anything can happen. That's why the coaches fight like dogs to get these kids to visit.
It looks to me like we want one more DB in this class, with TJ Bryant at the top of our boards and we're looking at some other top quality guys as insurance in case we lose out on TJ.
