Not in the same class. Jimmie will start this year and Dayne still has another year of high school left. If he were to red shirt, that puts them 2 years apart. That said, they have played against each other since Pop Warner and I'm convinced that Dayne believes himself to be a better talent and will compete VERY hard to take the lead.

So is Jimmie the starter for sure. If that's the case ND fans need to worry less about where Quinn goes in the draft and focus on how bad ND is going to be next season.

Could be a few reasons for that. In large part, SEC recruiting focuses almost exclusively on the home state and a few surrounding states. That's obviously because it's such a rich region for football talent. In the same vein, and I've read it here before, there are some kids who want the big city college atmosphere and if that's the case, USC is one obvious choice. I think it might be tougher to talk a Cali kid into life in Baton Rouge.

You have an excellent point though. As other coaches become more successful recruiting the SEC region, SEC coaches will need to consider getting on a plane going further West than Texas and further East than Indiana.

Russell was the top QB or the second best, Im not sure. Flynn was nationally ranked, and Perrilloux was the no. 1 as we all know.
Now that Russell has left, and Flynn has only one year of elegibility left, we're in deep sh*t. We need to recruit a top QB next year, that's a must. At least a top 3 QB, and I prefer it would be a pure passer type of guy, since Perrilloux is more of a double threat QB, and "may" not live up to the hype since he isnt battle tested yet. And we also need another average QB to be a 4th string QB.
Which leaves us with Perrilloux/Top QB/Lee/Average guy/the walk-ons. Not necessarily in this order.

JaMarcus was a 4 star, I think he was the 3rd highest pro-style QB. Flynn was in the teens somewhere.

With Lee from last class, we'll be fine at the QB position as long as we get one good QB this year. It doesn't have to be a top 3 type guy. J. Lee wasn't, but I'm very high on him and think he'll do well here.

JC shared duties with 3 other QB's at the irish spring game yesterday. He went 3-7 for 27 yards and did not lead a TD drive.

I think JC is a talented QB. However he was exposed a bit during the Cali State Championships earlier this year. He made some questionable decisions and faced with better D's, he threw a few interceptions and took a lot of it out on his teammates. I don't think he'll find glory as quickly as he'd like.

OK, I know this is an old thread, but I just found it, and I gotta say I enjoyed reading through it!

I'm not sure how this will play out in the years to come. I'm not sold on JC yet, as I haven't seen anything from him (in the spring game) that jumped out and told me he was "special".

I haven't seen any film on Crist yet, but if he's as big & strong as reported, then he at least has an edge over JC there.

LSU was very fortunate to keep Russell and Flynn all these years, and apparantly keep them happy enough for Flynn to stick around for only one year as the starter. I'm curious to see if ND can do the same w/ Crist and JC.
