Have you seen any film on Lee? I haven't seen much film on Crist yet so I couldn't say, but I know our coaches were very high on Lee, so I wouldn't count him out.
Don't want to suggest that Lee should be counted out. I have seen film on both and it hasn't changed my thoughts. Crist uses every bit of his height to advantage. His release is amazingly quick. He throws into coverage with complete confidence. Under pressure, he runs straight up rather than side to side and doesn't stop once contact has been made. Great patience in the pocket. He's a lottery recruit.
No knock on Lee intended, but he's not going to follow his friend, who also happens to be the #1 rated PLAYER among last years recruits, according to many recruiting services. At worst, Clausen was #2. Clausen is stepping into a position at ND where the starter just graduated and went into the NFL, assuming Quinn gets drafted. (Bite me, Bitter ND):hihi: Here, he would have to obviously compete with Jarret Lee, who isn't rated nearly as high as Clausen, for what that's worth. Flynn will be gone before he ever gets here, and Perrilloux will be a redshirt junior. If Crist redshirts, he would only have one year to sit behind Perrilloux, and compete with Lee. I have seen tapes of both Lee and Crist, and talent wise, they aren't worlds apart, except Crist is a junior in high school in the tapes I've seen, and Lee is a senior. Lee didn't look any better than Crist, not at all. Crist has JR's frame, and a gun to match. As for Lee, I love his work ethic and attitude. The tapes of Crist that I have seen don't offer any insight into his attitude and ethic, just game film.
It sure is nice to be debating which of these greatly talented QB's will be starting for us in the future. Big change from 15 years ago. :thumb:
Have you seen him play in person or just on video? You seem to know quite a bit about him. Thanks for you insight.
I've seen him in person and on video. He's been on SoCal radar for quite a while. Notre Dame HS in Sherman Oaks has been a lil' pipeline for SC. Crist was a backup to Garrett Green who is an athlete (unreal athletic talent) on our current roster, along with sophomore CB Cary Harris and senior Lou Ferrigno Jr (yes, it's the Hulk's son). We just received a commitment from 6-5.5 236 DE Wes Horton. Older brother Shane committed to UNLV. Horton Sr. played for ucla. :hihi: Anyway, Crist and Lee would be quite a competition I'm sure. I'm anxious to see how Crist does when he camps and how he bears out at the Elite 7 QB camp.
