When I was at LSU I would go to the original 'Free Speech Ally' by the student union. David Duke used to be a frequent talker. Even in 69 and the early 70s he was shockingly anti-Semite, anti-black (of course that's not the word he used) and anti any other minority. Supreme white supremecy. My chemistry professer (very Jewish) would get up after and tell us how dangerous Dukes thoughts were. Duke was trying to recruit for a NAZI type party. He would walk across campus in NAZI uniforms. Later he founded and became leader of of the KKKK. No, the 4th K is not a typo. Google it, if you're interested. When he got into politics he had the same message, but had taken the edges of the language. When he won the legislative seat it was a special election in a place and time that provided an opportunity to run. He never accomplished anything during his term in the house. He's lost every other time he's run for anything. He's the same David Duke I first heard in 1970. His words have changed but not his thoughts. A vote for Duke is a vote for Hitler's core beliefs. He is a piece of shit. So count me in the 'NO' column. I would vote for his opponent no mater who they are. Yes even the evil one HRC,
He only won once. And Metairie in 1989 was anything but heavily black. It was white suburban America living adjacent to a 60% Black city with lots of poverty. No matter what his formal platform says, his beliefs are still the same as when he walked across LSU in a NAZI uniform.
white people have been conditioned to be outraged at a white racist. even moreso if a self-avowed one. We dont really have any reaction to a black racist because its so common and overtly accepted we dont even notice. obama was raised racist and god damn america. we not only accepted and/or denied it, we voted him president of the united states, twice. the juxtaposition is compelling. but no i cant vote for duke. even if he had every policy id agree with even my white guilt would come into play.
