Or when. Les could require from LSU at any time with an enduring legacy. He's facing a serious rebuilding job at Michigan and they will expect an LSU-like contender in two or three years or he is done. He can stay here, earn top dollar, leave a Spurrier-like record. Then he can still watch Michigan games from their 50 yard line for the rest of his life.
If LSU was in dire straights and was willing to invest in its program to win, how many LSU guys wouldn't think real hard about taking over? Couldn't blame Les if he went and I think the job he's done this year will have Michigan interested again. I agree with all the pumpers, Miles will be tough to replace. We need a solid man who can recruit like a beast. Field a D, continue churning out NFL caliber players, keep the players' noses clean, and win games. Maintain the best coaching staff in cfb. Recruiting/coaching QBs and managing clock optional. The safe money is probably that he stays put, but it seems more likely than a lot of the things we've seen on the field during Miles time here. If Miles leaves I think he'd be highly revered at lsu, much more so than Saban, and especially if his replacement sucks.
Well, if they get a non-Michigan-man AD, they might not be that interested in CLM. Source: U-M targets N'western AD
miles will go if he decides he lost his mother there really is no reason to stay other than he wants to retire here.
Miles Sister ( Before her death after the car accident) and Mother both were living in BTR. His family is here. Mich has been known to not spend the money. LSU does, look at what the LSU staff makes, will Mich want to pay a ton for the HC, an try an save on the Asst. Coaches pay? You get what you pay for. I often talk about moving a family, the right fit, etc. too many things come into play. Mich is far from the program it once was, gonna take the right coach, along with the off the field personnel working (Higher ups) with that coach. Harbaugh will have his shot back in the NFL, he is not easy to work with, talking to a coach I know, his brother with the Ravens is a more understanding and hands off Asst. guy. Jim took years at Stanford (4-8,5-7,8-5, and 12-1 seasons), its gonna take a little longer at Mich to turn things around. But once again, got to be the right coach. Mich is a lot like UTx, too many pulling against one another. Stanford recruits Prep schools, TX, Fla and every now and then a player from La. Mich picked up Drew Dileo, out of Parkview in BTR. I told a coach I know in college to come to BTR and offer Drew, I told him the kid would avg 100 yds/game in his offense, he said that he would look over his film. By the time the coach had made it to BTR, Drew had got the offer from Mich and gave a verbal the night before. Drew did well at Mich, good player and a good kid. I just can't see Les pulling the family up to go an fight that battle, after 10 years, this is his home. It would shock me, but with Les, he has shocked me before.
