I am beginning to think yes, we were a little wrong about the Big 12 over the past few years and teams that run the quick paced offenses. However I still think there is merit that some of the SEC defenses in years past were just plain silly and would and did make some of those air raid teams look bad. But for vice versa is happening more often now.

So I think we are seeing teams are adjusting to what gives them the best recruits and the best chances at winning. Old LSU was great if you stay close or have a lead, but once you get down your are toast. Plus we were having issues recruiting due to the vanilla offense. But a team that is pass first and also can sort of power run, they give the team the best chance at winning in all scenarios.

TBH I think we are not trying to establish the run because they know they can, just saving it. Plus they are padding Joe's numbers for the Heismen running.

I agree with this conclusion and this has to be a big adjustment for the players and coaches. While I was pretty bummed about how the D looked against Vandy, I do have confidence that Aranda will fix these problems. And I have no issue with him waiting until the Florida game to show that progress.

    Hey Crosseyed Fool ...
Spell the man’s name right ... It’s Aranda

And for the rest of you LITTLES in here ... You know who you are ...

Aranda came outta Texas Tech ... You might think that he knows just a little bit about the pass and passing defenses and pressure.

It’s hard to run Aranda’s green package when there is so much attrition at bookends (DL outside of Nose Tackle) with Logan and Lawrence gone ...

So you littlest need to STFU already and quit bashing the man ...

    QUESTIONS:
    1. Were any of you LITTLES not screaming your alto-soprano balls off when LSU Dee made those two goal line stands at Austin

    2. Any of you LITTLES notice the second half shut out against Northwest State

    3. Any of you LITTLES notice Vandy scored 14 of 38 courtesy of fluke offensive and ST play ... Pts given up by the Defense (24) when LSU easily could have scored 80 ...

    Hey LITTLES ...
    Mighty Georgia beat Vandy 30-3

I’m glad you don’t THINK for our FB team.
You did have some good points however.

The biggest factor (not what you thought) is that the Defense hasn’t adjusted to the Speed of Play and being out there with THIS TYPE OFFENSE with short drives ... PERIOD ... That combined with key injuries that don’t allow a serious pass rush outside of stunting ...

After Florida come back and sing the praises for our Defense ... Just watch

I hope you're right about seeing an improvement by UF.

That said, I agree, the speed of the game may have SOME effect on the defense. However, the speed of the game does not effect our poor tackling, lack of a pass rush, coverage, depth, conditioning, etc. From the second half of the Texas game on the defense has struggled immensely with tackling, pass rush, and coverage issues.

Defense will improve as long as we get the big 3 (Lawrence, Logan and Chassion) back and we don't get more injuries. We are not as deep as Bama yet is the problem. I think Aranda is good enough to adjust to the speed of our offense and patch up our offense. Till then offense needs to keep that 57 points per game going.

Right. A lot of those drives by UT, and others, would simply have ended if we just tackled. Like 100%, we had guys in position. Just make the damn play.

Ball hawking (in lieu of good tackling) is easily corrected ... Watch the Stingley play where the Vandy back goes for 15 yards and a first while Stingley takes about 5 good swipes at the ball ... You coach that up & Oeaux said they’re back to tackling drills ...

The turnovers will come ... Injuries affecting the rest will sort themselves out ...

Don’t undersell the speed of the game as it’s akin to playing a game of rugby with these hurry up offenses ... LSU isn’t the only one playing hurry up and taking advantage of huge mismatches that result in coverage issues ...

Anyone see Travez Moore (48) get beat by a WR for an easy touchdown just outside the red zone ... Travez Moore is a run stop Specialist and not able to cover a WR ...
What the hell was he doing in a game with 5 WRs out there covering one of them ...

With your key personnel out due to injury, these hurry up offenses will catch our run package dees on the field and beat them.

It will continue and there’s nothing to be done about it if substitutions aren’t made.

As for LSU man coverage, it remains SICK

Aranda’s “cheetah" package (5 DBs, 4LBs, 2 DL) and Green Package (4 Best rushers on the line) are being substituted along with the standard 3-4 Dee and it takes time with the new kids and subs working together to get a cohesive unit ... Not to mention what looks like an experiment going on out there.

We get one more scrimmage before Florida.
Even with some key players out for Florida, we’re gonna roll them by 30 points ...

Early Line is LSU -3.5 ... That week can’t get here soon enough

Predictable Auburn running 2/3 plays can’t get their asses into Tiger Stadium soon enough for me
