Not with questionable talent. It looks like if we don't get DC Jefferson we'll be down to our 4th option, Jordan Jefferson. I'd rather take the risk & wait till next year when there are more options available.
I hope like all of you do that RP will have a long and prosperous career winning championships for the tigers. However, he has already shown on 2 different occasions--counterfeiting connection and fake I.D.-- that he can be a problem child. I'm not naive enough to believe we can count on him the way we could if he had been a model citizen. I'm not completely positive he would still be on the team if he had played another position and not been the heir apparent to QB the team next year.
Yeah I don't believe anything ever came of that counterfeiting stuff... and you're innocent until proven guilty. And the ID thing, c'mon so many kids get fake IDs or use someone else's ID. I'm just hoping he's learned his lesson. I'll be very happy with getting DC Jefferson and Darron Thomas. One solid QB prospect, and another guy who could play QB, but if we don't need him there can be switched to WR.
What I am saying is that his name came up in the counterfeiting stuff. At the very least he was in the wrong place at the wrong time or he knew the wrong people. Even if he was cleared, it wasn't good. I agree many people on this forum probably used fake I.D.s etc., to gain admission to neighborhood bars. To answer a previous poster, I consider a fake I.D. as do most, as anything that is not your correct I.D. However, you don't mess with casinos who are very adamant about not allowing anyone in over 21. Just ask Jamie Fox and his sister--who were arrested after they caused a commotion at Harrahs when his sister refused to show I.D. When a movie star can't get his sister in without showing I.D. you know they mean business.
According to what was posted in the Tiger's Den by Tirk yesterday he was going to start some type of program to help clear his record of the counterfeiting "connection" when he ran into trouble with the fake I.D. charge. Read the post under Perriloux or something similar.
I understand your concern, but the way I see it RP has had one strike so far and that is the I.D. situation. From everything I have read on here and outside links RP has done more than what he has been asked in order to make up for his mistake. Why do we want to count the kid out right after he was given a second chance. The fact that he took it like a man instead of pouting or slacking off should tell you something about his attitude. We should be glad he is back on the team.
It is good to hear that he is making a good effort to attone for his mistakes and I am very happy he didn't just cop an attitude. However after reading Tirk's post--if his source is correct-- I see 2 strikes. You don't do community service in regards to the counterfeiting stuff if you are totally innocent and you would have no reason to try and expunge your record if you had nothing to expunge.
Everything with RP is fine and I think he has learned his lesson. He didnt even do anything that bad in the first place. He was never proven to have anything to do with counterfeitting and using his brother's ID is not a big deal. Like I said, I dont think we need to take a QB. Taking a guy like Thomas would be fine since he could play WR. But I think taking a guy that can only play QB would be a waste of a scholarship, unless he is really good.
