Let me suggest best buy next time. One's honesty and integrity is at the center of all things NCAA. UNC creates one public act of indiscretion with Dareus and the boys. In short fashion more than half the team is sweating it out.A lot of this can be about where the NCAA chooses to spend their time.

The fact you put "not much stock into the probation's of AU during Bear's roaming" sounds about as scientific as most of my arguments. Welcome to my world.

    Now this could get interesting:

State investigators subpoena suspended UNC DT Austin - NCAA Football - CBSSports.com

Investigators from the North Carolina Secretary of State's office have subpoenaed Tar Heels defensive tackle Marvin Austin, a person familiar with the situation said Friday.
The person spoke to the Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the investigation is ongoing. Austin is one of 13 players who did not travel with the 18th-ranked Tar Heels to Atlanta for Saturday's opener against No. 21 LSU because of an NCAA probe.
Secretary of State Elaine Marshall's office is reviewing whether North Carolina's sports agents laws have been broken in the wake of the NCAA investigation into the school's football program.

something really needs to be done to punish the agents. while the kids need to be careful and responsible, and follow the rules, they are only one side of this. until agents have to pay for their part in these shenanigans, they are gonna continue. right now they can just shrug their shoulders and move on to the next target.

It would help if the schools would kick in a bit more pressure and the AG would use their subpoena like they are in NC to get to the bottom of the matter. One has to wonder what the rest of the story is when a player is ineligible but the AG doesn't find any wrong doing what is really going on. Maybe the NC AD should take Ralph up on his tweet offer...

State AG will not pursue Smith agent case - al.com

Alabama Attorney General Troy King has closed his office's review of the Andre Smith case, saying he found "no probable cause" to believe anyone violated Alabama's state laws for sports agents.
Smith, a standout offensive lineman at Alabama, was suspended by the university from the Sugar Bowl because he was not upfront with coach Nick Saban regarding his dealings with at least one agent. Senior prosecutor Don Valeska reviewed the case for King to determine if anyone violated state laws regarding agent conduct and recommended to discontinue investigating.
"We do not continue to pursue allegations of wrongdoing when a thorough review of a matter finds no evidence that would establish a case for probable cause," King said in a statement Wednesday.
The state of Alabama prohibits an agent from directly or indirectly providing anything of value to a college athlete before entering into a contract. Athletes must notify his or her athletics director within 72 hours, or before the next scheduled event, if the athlete enters into a verbal or written contract or accepts anything of value from an agent or a "runner."
Failing to register in Alabama as a sports agent is a class C felony, punishable by one to 10 years in prison and a fine up to $5,000. Initiating contact without being registered is a class A misdemeanor, punishable by up to one year in prison and a fine up to $2,000.
The Birmingham News reported in February that Smith did not inform Athletics Director Mal Moore or coach Nick Saban when a person representing his interests began communicating with an agent, and that Smith balked at turning over his phone records to Alabama. University policy requires Alabama athletes to report to the school any contact with an agent.
While preparing for the NFL Draft, Smith told an NFL team that an uncle made contact with an agent, but that Smith himself did not, The News reported. Smith told the team that no money was exchanged, although it was not clear if Smith was referring to himself as receiving no monetary inducement or if he meant to include members of his inner circle....

It's interesting that A.J. Green of Georgia fame has been scratched for the game today. He has maintained a low profile and made numerous absolute denials. He supposedly had dated pictures that put him somewhere else at the time of the crime. Dareus had no pictures and has known his fate before the season start, maybe Green's pictures tell a different story. The answer is coming like a storm. Next week South Carolina, stay tune.
