Just thought I would mention the latest on Marcell Dareus and the agent investigation. So he is strapped with a two game suspension for apparently Two trips to south beach. He also must repay a little over $1700.00 to his favorite charity. This includes air travel, lodging, food, and transportation. Given the serious nature that the NC and SC players have found themselves in, it could have been worse, I guess. In true Alabama fashion, however, the NCAA stated concerning Mr. Dareus" that "he was one of the most truthful student-athletes" they have ever interviewed. Bama will appeal the decision to try and get it reduced to one game. Coach Saban said he felt in this situation that Dareus was "shanghaied" into this by other players. So there you have it, another attempt to level the playing field at Bama's expense. This will give Dareus a game to get ready for SEC play with Ar-Kansas and both he and Ingram should be well rested and focused.
As much as that sucks, at least it isn't a long term thing, hopefully, and you guys will have him for the season. Just gotta hope that it doesn't get any bigger than it is now.
Exactly, we just get rid of that dynasty at Southern Cal and now we have to go after the new Bama dynasty. When, Oh when, will it ever stop?
I am confused. It took him two trips to realize that it was improper? And because Saban said he was "shanghaied", that means there is a conspiracy to tear bama down? So the agent isn't after the player, he just wants to get him disqualified so other teams will be level with bama? You seriously said that? In lieu of what is happening around the country, I would regard a 2 game suspension for 2 improper trips a fortunate conclusion.
There may have been some personal editorial thoughts closely linked with the facts, as we know them. But at this point, I'll just associate that with some NCAA post traumatic stress disorder, on my part. In fairness, I feel it could have been worse for Dareus. With the players allegedly involved from NC to Georgia ( waiting) it is far from over. With Penn St. coming up, I'm sure Coach Saban doesn't mind rolling the dice on this one. Otherwise I think Bama lets the whole thing ride. As the details unravel a little bit, I think the Bama fans will be more inclined to point a finger at the NCAA than the unfortunate bear trap Dareus found himself in. For us, it's just reflect.
In TRUE BAMA fashion? SHANGHAIED? Did someone knock him out or drug him, then take him partying?:hihi: True Bama fashion, indeed....When he should be through for the year, they let him back in time for SEC games and BAMA thinks that is not enough. One game only....:hihi: Am I wrong or is the second game Penn State? Your first game should only be played by walk-ons................
You've been reading too much North Carolina news. Coach Saban, I'm sure, wants to show Dareus a lot of support. By the time the NCAA gets around to that appeal, we're probably on our way to knoxville. The official quote on all this, went like this: "Marcell never intentionally violated any NCAA rules and did not knowingly receive any benefits from an agent." That should settle everyone down.
