Dandy Don's LSU Sporting News | Thanksgiving Message 2011 Shares a lot of memories of his life with everyone. His last great memory will be one of arguably the greatest college football team of all time, the 2011 LSU Tigers. Let's bring it on home.
A GREAT TIGER indeed prayers and blessing's for Dandy Don and for his family. And a big THANKS for all he has given to the TIGER family over the years. :tigereye:
Amen. He's been the start of my day for a few years. Prayers for him and his family. May they have a blessed Thanksgiving.
After reading that article I can only think of how blessed my life has been. How spoiled I was as a child. How spoiled I am now. I think about what don's dad must have went through. What he must have thought about when he couldn't afford to give his boys what they wanted. I thank God for the blessings I have. The beautiful wife and son I have. I thank God for me having the ability to provide for them the things I do. I wish don to have a happy thanksgiving and Christmas season. I know that each of us has his own day to die. I wish that don's wasn't so near. Best of wishes to his family and my God bless dandy don.
Great post izzy :thumb: ... Don was a great friend of my dad who passed away in '99. I'd make the practices and bashes during the DiNardo era with my dad and we'd always run into Don ... he was winding down his part-time job as a state HS ref back then and loved his Tigers as we did. We shared recruiting information and recruiting tidbits we picked up when we'd travel and watch the HS games. We'd always give Don mags we had from recruiting (including a lot of out of state and hard to get stuff) and it was great fun sharing time at those practices with him and talking about the Tigers. Don has been criticized as being a HOMER, but he really knew his football and you don't get to be a ref unless you know your FB and you're in pretty damn good shape ... you run your azz off in a typical game. When my dad passed, I'll never forget the piece Don wrote on him ... It was really a heart felt loss piece about a loss of a good friend and Don called my dad the greatest tiger fan he ever knew ... I've always had Don's website as my home page and I catch his column every day ... Great to know Scott's gonna keep it going! There's no way God would let this man slip away without letting him see LSU win another :crystal: ... Don Long is the salt of the earth and I hope he lives LONG enough (pun intended) to see us three-peat and give his doctor a big **** sandwich to eat
That is one of the best things I have ever read in my life. What memories.. I wish to see this message every Thanksgiving.
Agree with all the posters here.... Great memories of a true Tiger fan. He has stuck with the program during many dark days and is just a great man. Prayers go out on his behalf. And come on Tigers... let's continue making this season the greatest in LSU history.
