    Notre Dame's policy for years was to not play in bowl games They changed that in 1970 or 1971. LSU at 9-1 was expecting a Cotton Bowl invite and when the Irish announcement came the CB picked them and LSU sat home.

    I don't think so. More the crap they had earlier in the season when the team threatend to ho on strike if the president of the university didn't resign. That and the coach retired.
