msully, I'm not hoping that he'll fail, and I don't think he will fail in Miami. Saban has never been fired from any job, partly because he doesn't stay more than five years in one place.

However, you have to wonder how he will manage the professional athletes. I'd say that Nick's personality may clash with the NFL player personality. College kids will put up with coach's nastiness, but will pros? We will see. It will be interesting.

But, hey, I live near NYC now with the military, so I'll be pulling for Herman Edwards and his Jets.

 

This is a depressing thread

 

Saban brings so many intangibles that are difficult to replace. I like the things he says when he speaks, how he prepares for each game, and how he places "ownership of the team" with the players. His philosophies and approach to the game go far beyond X's and O's.

 

agree but god, this is a depressing thread no matter how i look at it. my fault, too.

 

This is why I hate clicking on the "similar threads" links. Because they pull up threads like this one from 6 years ago & just make me depressed.
