Not sure they if have corrected this, but my trip to Babe's in Roanoke I found the fried chicked to be the blandest IRT to spices I have ever eaten. I mentioned to the mgr a little Slap Yo Mama or red pepper in the batter would go a long way with the taste............they did not share my opinion. I never went back, if you like spicy chicken I don't think you will like Babe's.
I know what you mean. I usually get Popeye's spicy, but I really enjoyed Babe's. We went to the one in Roanoke. In the summer, people would bring ice chests of beer and tailgate outside while waiting for their table. I used their recipe that you can pick up at the restaurant and made my own at home. It was way better than my previous home fried chicken.
Agree that Babe's chicken is not spicy. The chicken fried steak does have a little black pepper spice and is what I have been getting lately. I am really on a health kick!
Thanks for the new replies (well, except for the attempted hijack of the thread, that is ). Dodie's Reef sounds like a good place to celebrate/commiserate on Sunday. I'm not really a conspiracy nut, but would like to get the lay of the land, as it were. I was fascinated with the Huey Long assassination as a kid and one of the things that fueled the fascination was the ability to go the Capital, walk the path and examine the bullet holes.
The West End has some pretty interesting bars with live music (one called Gators) in Dallas. If you're looking for some all you can eat beef ribs (Sunday would be good) go to Riscky's in downtown Ft Worth.
I still look at that fence on the grassy knoll everytime I drive by there and think that theory has some merit.
We're going to J Gilligans for the DFW Alumni tailgate on Saturday before the game. Does anyone know anything about that place? Based on the pictures, it kinda looks a little sketchy. But the majority of the reviews are positive.
The Sniper's nest is eerily similar to the way it was when JFK was shot....... because Oswald isn't in it.
I've never been but I talked to the owner yesterday. Really nice guy. My wife is pretty picky when it comes to drinks and I was worried I was going to shell out $55 just to then have to buy all her drinks at the bar. He assured me that he would take care of us and even gave me his cell phone number. With parking and shuttle rides included its not a bad deal. They are opening the parking lot and running the shuttles early now so you can go park, shuttle to gameday, and then come back at noon for the party. Should be a good time.
