First off, Grats on being a LSU letterman. That fricking awesome. :geauxtige No need for cutting of slack, if that is how you feel that is you. You are perfectly entitled to your feelings and beliefs. I just happen to disagree. To me, that is a crock of crap. If something should not be said, then no one should say it. Making it a conditional phrase is just more PC bullchit. People need to get a thicker skin. Dale Brown said it as a joke to a man that he has known since Shaq was 12. Shaq took no offense and no offense was meant. If people are getting offended by it, then either they are not using their brain to get the context of what Dale Brown was saying, or maybe they are letting their own racist tendencies determine the meaning of the Dale Browns comments.
With all due respect . . . that is an incredibly racist remark and I am offended by it. If the white man is not a racist and his remark was not racist and the black man was not offended . . . but a WHITE man can't say "King Kong"? Give me a break! Anybody can see that the reference was to something powerful versus something meek. It was not in any way racist, yet you think a black man can say it but not a white man. I think you need to think this through again, chief. Cool. It's Nothing personal, I just disagree with your notion. Stick around and give us your insight on football. Perhaps not on etiquette. :yelwink2:
Thank you. I never opened this thread until today, because I just had a hunch what the topic was about. Spent a little time reading the posts, waiting until I saw that someone would really get it. I am glad that someone was able to point out what Daddy Dales comparison was meant to be. It is apparent that Shaq was beyond disturbed by these remarks. So upset he joined forces with Kobe and became the MVP of the All Star Game. This is a non issue, lets move along now.
I know for sure that one thing a white man should not say is that it's OK for ANYONE to call a black man a Nigger!!! I cut you no slack on that !! By your logic, since I'm Bi racial I guess you'll just have to listen to me - LSU letterman or not Randy. Buick Mackane said that even the tiniest amount of racism is not acceptable and he's right on. It's just that Dale Brown's comments were NOT racist. Quit trying to portray him as one by your self serving, twisted logic.
You fail for 2 reasons. Firstly, you equate the N-word with a comparison to a fictional character. Secondly, you tried for a weak sympathy grab at the end. Your lettering in football certainly gives you plenty of credibility in any discussion about the Tigers on the field. But in this conversation it's irrelevant, and is nothing more than the last act of a desperate man. Enough about Shaq and Dale though, let's talk about you....What year did you play? What position? How were your teammates? Did you play with many King Kong types or were they mostly Bambis?
No, It should be deleted because it is nothing more than a waste of cyberspace. Al Gore didn't anticipate these issues when he invented the Internet!
