LSU tight end DeAngelo Peterson still trying to forget BCS disaster - New Orleans Saints Football NFL News - NOLA.com

Miles has always had an arsenal of weapons and has never fully utilized them. As good as his record is at LSU, it could actually be better if he would use the weapons he has.

There isn't a doubt in my mind that if Miles would allow the offensive coordinator to do his job and fully utilize all of the offensive playmakers, we could have played in the BCSNCG last year too and won.

Miles could have 3 crystals right now but because he's so stuck in the Big10 past, he's blown 2 great opportunities.

    Damn shame.

You gotta hate it when you get the feeling that some of these kids are wondering what could have been, if they had chosen somewhere else to play college ball.

I would think they are wondering what might have been Jan 9 as D Pete did.
I guess the question is, did Les not use the game plan (I believe Peterson) because he saw how bad the line play was and that JJ wasn't going to spark things. or for some other reason? I could see turning more conservative so things don't get out of hand while waiting for a special teams or defensive play to either score or spark the O as had happened in the previous 2 games. Turnovers by the O could have killed any chance we had. As it was by conservative play we had a shot until Richardson scored. Frustrating as hell but reasonable.
IMO this holds more water than the crazy fight theories or a brain freeze by CLM.

Miles is way too involved in the offense. His final interview regarding the 2011 season confirmed suspicions I have had for a very long time. Les Miles is the head coach and the offensive coordinator. He needs to stick to just being a head coach, because he has no clue how to run an offense.

This is silly. The only team better than us this year was Bama and that was only on Jan 9th. Had the players gone somewhere else to play, they'd be on mediocre teams or on teams far inferior to LSU. One bad game and the memories of a great season go to pot, umm, just like Lasalle.

Why the maniacal single focus on the QB? The whole O struggled to make a first down. Yes a QB carries more responsibility BUT it is a TEAM game. The whole O was off Jan 9.
Look at other components like the play of 72. Two false starts and a missed assignment leading to a sack (all on critical downs?). From the first the O line was manhandled by Bama's D, PJ had several poor snaps, and the RBs had no holes to run through.
Yes JJ wasn't effective at all and was a big part of the problem as well but again if you don't win the battle up front no QB no matter how great is effective. We were crushed on the O line.
I would say that would qualify as valid reason to lose faith in the entire O. A real friggen doof would have put the game at risk of a blow out by not playing it close to the vest.

While I'm not buying all the what if stuff, Les needs to address the depth of this discontent that seems to be flowing freely from some of the seniors and certainly the fan base. The best answer is still gonna be a new season, new QB and new offensive talent. But coming home at 13-1 is all the reason he has to give and I truly believe him when he said, "I didn't see it coming."

Because the entire offense is predicated on the QB.

Because Saban knew JJ couldn't hit the earth with the football if he dropped it. They loaded the line and were going to make LSU pass to beat them.

Again. They knew JJ couldn't beat them with his arm and were comfortable stacking the box.

If Miles puts Lee in and he hits a few downfield, Saban is forced to play his LBs and safeties back which allows for better running lanes.

It's Football 101 and Miles failed. Worse than that, he didn't even try.

That shoudl do wonders for recruiting. I wonder how many coaches have this thing printed and laminated to carry around in their brief cases on in home visits to kids that are thinking about coming here.

    Thanks a bunch Leslie

Bama basically stopped the run game with a four man front. Upshaw often assumed the 4th down lineman and would flip sides based on scheme. The D-line dominated their man all game. The speed option and the power runs up the middle never materialized. The d-backs always play close to the LOS, to take away the slants, bubble screens and I'm sure they were told to concentrate on that nasty little option, while they were there.
