But it is when there are all those automatic qualifiers and 8 SEC teams that get selected before us. Bottom line, all those close, 1-run losses hurt us bad. Losing at home by 1 run to Princeton. Getting swept @ Florida, Arkansas and Vandy. Plus, we lost at home to Northwestern State.
We're not used to it in baseball so it really stings. It's just like in any game though, you don't want to leave the outcome in the hands of someone else. No way LSU should have allowed themselves to be in this position, but it still sucks. Less deserving teams are in and the way the Tigers playrd down the stretch should have helped a little.
A little off topic here but, I see that Ben Alsup is the only Sr. on the team but, I have also heard that Mahtook, a Jr., may leave early. Does anyone think that with LSU not making the tourney, he may stay another year ? I hope so.
Hopefully, next year when we are down by a run late in the game, one of these guys will step up to the plate and hit the dang ball. I hope they have learned that just being LSU won't get you in. You do in fact have to play good baseball.
:geaux: This. :dis: Made everybody forget about the sweep of Cal State Fullerton earlier in the season. :LSU231:
We couldn't make our own conference tournament. That's our fault, not the NCAA. Look, no way LSU baseball should EVER have to sweat out selection day. Its like Duke, Kansas, or North Carolina sweating out March madness. It should never come down to that. This was a monumental failure. There is no conspiracy here, we didn't get it done.
