It's not over the wall or nothing. Many base hits are from hitting through the infield and also hitting in between the infield and outfield so, no, there'll be no re-tooling of the bats. That was for safety purposes anyway.
I'm sad but this Tiger team was really great! They are young, and we will get to see what they can do next year!
Saddest part of all are the two unlikely fielding errors by stud defenders Ross and Bregman. If that doesn't occur, LSU is the national champion. The first game was that important to LSU.
Wow. What a great game and what a great season Reminds me of the 2004 movie Friday Night Lights, based on the 1990 book Friday Night Lights: A Town, a Team, and a Dream. I don't even know where to begin to start gushing how proud i am of this team. I had a well-thought out post that was a pretty good start about ready to be posted last night but i lost it when my phone died. But I'll get to re-writing that post later. Hell, i might a whole book on this team. That's how proud of them i am And to make it even better, the first chance i got today to read an LSU forum today, the first thing i see is that Katz wrote this on his phone to Tiger Nation at 8:58 a.m. this morning: Well #tigernation 140 characters can't describe what I want to say... So here is what I could fit in a note
Glad to see his spirits are high. It's good to keep perspective in the face of bitter disappointment.
Yeah, Katz is Klass. I hear people complaining about coaching, and I think that is typical and expected after a disappointing showing, but this was all about a team that went relatively cold in a stadium that just doesn't respond to the long ball. Truth be told, we actually had some solid hits, too, that were simply defended well. But, Bregman and Raph were definitely cold. They are all the same coaches and players who got us there, so we shouldn't be too disappointed. They represented LSU strongly this year (#1 in final poll, and best regular season record in LSU history) and with class. On a personal note, while disappointed in the outcomes, my son and I had a great trip to Omaheaux. We got to both LSU games, had great seats, and I have come to the realization that my LSU underwear are not as lucky as I once thought. The Omaha locals were extremely nice, hospitable, and very appreciative of LSUs showing. I heard over and over from locals how impressed they are with how LSU turns out in numbers and how respectful our fan base is year after year (not sure if they would feel the same way if alcohol was served at the stadium, lol). Also, got to visit Rosenblatt, which is just a memorial now (it's been paved over w/parking lot for the neighboring zoo), stood on the original home plate, and ran the bases. The pole down the first base line where Warren Morris hit his epic home run was preserved, too, so it was cool standing there and picturing that moment. Would do it again, for sure, but would prefer the Tigers to win it all!
