Texas getting back the first 3 runs was impressive, small ball was out the window. Later on Texas had a runner on 1st and 3rd w/ 1 out, and they bunt. They bunt! The plan is to drive in a run and get a man on 2nd w/ 2 outs. But ASU boots the throw to 1st, and the run scores, it's still 1 out and runners are on 2nd and 3rd. A base hit drives in both runs to tie the game. Congrats to Texas for tying it up, but that was just lucky and they succeeded in spite of small ball...
I'm not quite sure how Texas keeps getting into these positions where their .250 and lower hitters are drawing walks. It seems to me that when a guy is hitting that poorly for a season (which is more than half of Texas's starting lineup), you pitch right at these guys. No fancy pitching around them. No designed balls. Nothing in the dirt with an 0-2 count. There is a reason they have poor BAs.
I'm not stupid- I would much rather Texas than ASU. ASU has that stud pitcher named Lake and he seems- scratch that.
10-6... That 4th inning took everything out of ASU. 6 walks today for ASU pitching (and counting). 9 walks Saturday for USM against Texas. No clue as to how many of them came around to score. For comparison, LSU walked 3 yesterday and 5 Saturday and Virginia has walked 6 total in two games. I like UNC's chances at coming out of the loser's bracket.
I think we match up well with the Texas trailer trash. The UNC-ASU rematch should be a good one and if UNC plays like they did today, I would expect them to win. Without really thinking this through...it seems the best scenario for LSU is: -Arkansas beats Virginia -UNC beats ASU -LSU beats Arkansas on Friday -UNC beats Texas on Friday -Texas beats UNC on Saturday -LSU vs. Texas in championship round LSU wins 6th CWS!!! :yelwink2:
