This is going to be interesting to see if it has any wings. Will the GOP controlled house agree to tax increases? Will the Democratic controlled Senate agree to cuts to Medicare/Social Security?

Why in the hell would Obama commit political suicide by talking about cutting Medicare/Social Security?

 

Because he's desperate. He doesn't need to commit political suicide. He's already been sentenced to political death.

 

And the tax increase is already done, obama care will take care of that they just haven't hit yet. All smoke and mirrors folks, more of the same regardless of what side it comes from.

I'm so sick of the notion that the rich people need to take care of everybody. The Republicans need to start a new slogan.

"I'll take care of me and you take care of you"

 

Isn't that Mexico's slogan? I think that is the republican fantasy anyway. All the rich on big hills with security guards, and everyone else killing each other for garbage scraps.

 

Ouch!!

The problem with the "I will take care of me" philosophy, its that a lot of the "me's" got there on the back of the common man, via screwed up legislation, bought with big wig dollars, that promoted the me's over the rest of us.

What the "me's" don't understand is that the US of A is not guaranteed for ever and the reckoning could be swift, and could come a lot sooner than most of us want to believe.

Rich folks, who had it all, have swung from the lightpost before, and they will do so again.

I used to be a "me."

But based on only a couple of non-money motivated decisions, in a very short amount of time, I have descended into the bowels of the rest of us.

1% of the population paying 90% of the bills. Maybe they should just leave the US and then see where you are at.

 

I will be in the same place probably. All the rich people I know are democrats, including the dude that signs my paychecks.

The reason we have a deficit is that there are:
1) too many deductions for both corporations and individuals
2) half the people don't pay any taxes
3) the government got into the business of entitlements. Before Wilson and fdr the federal government had no social spending on entitlements
4) the government gives away money to support industries such as ethonol
5) the population has figured out that they can vote money from the treasury
6) we are involved in everyone else's business all over the world being world cop
7) government intrusion into the free market system has caused a psudo socialist hybred that has hampered growth and injected bureaucrats into economic decision making. The intrusion of government into the capitalist free enterprise system strangles the market. Remove all socialistic intrusion and the market will grow. The desire of both individuals and business to make profits will grow wealth for the entire country. The 'profits are evil, the rich are evil' sentiments of the socialist leaning elements of our society has caused wealth building to become stagnant. Children are not taught to succeed anymore as proven by soccer games where score isn't kept and everyone is a winner. Eliminate progressive socialistic tendencies from the market and growth will return in spades.
