    Way overpaid.

Guy is typically in the mid to upper 3s in ERA and rarely lasts past 7 innings as his pitch count often gets really high with all the walks and strikeouts.

Not to mention he is a emotional wreck out there on the mound at times.

So basically they signed a #2 starter to an elite #1 starter pay.

The Cubs once again show their penny wise and pound foolish management style.

They spend 90 million on Zambrano while they passed on one of the best catcher prospects of this decade that only comes along when you go 66-96.

    The kid they passed over:

"Wieters, 21, is a 6-foot-5, 225-pound switch-hitter from Goose Creek, SC. A three-year starter at Georgia Tech, he batted .358 this season, with 10 home runs and 59 RBI in 56 games. He was a finalist for collegiate baseball's Johnny Bench Award and the USA Baseball Golden Spikes Award.

In his three seasons with the Yellow Jackets, Wieters hit .359 with 35 homers and 198 RBI. In 2006, he joined Jason Varitek as the only catchers in Georgia Tech history to earn first-team All-America honors. As a freshman in 2005, he was the Atlantic Coast Conference Rookie of the Year."

Wieters ended up signing for 6 million and would have put the Cubs on a course to potentially win a World Series. But NO... they are too cheap to pick up one of the most important position prospects to be had in a long while, and then turn around and give Zambrano 90 million.

    Pure foolishness!
