I dont know why they just didn't let him play 2B, instead of going out and spending more money on DeRosa. I guess they figured they couldn't sign a good enough center fielder. From what I hear, Soriano was actually very good in the outfield for the Nationals.

DeRosa may be a one year wonder (no track record). He definitely started to slide towards the end of the year after that tremendous stretch in the middle of the season for the Rangers. This could be a very risky move. I don't know the terms of his contract.

Pierre went to the Dodgers yesterday. Interestingly, they already have Furcal (unless he's a free agent). Talk about mucho speed at the top of that lineup.

They had him play OF for a few reasons. First, he's a true liability at 2B. Second, his value as a great-hitting OF is less than a great-hitting 2B (assuming they wanted to resign him.) Lastly, I think they had a decent 2B, but were short one outfielder. I can't emphasize enough how bad he was in the field at 2B though.

The Pierre signing is insane. $9M for a guy that hasn't done much the past two years...wow, really overpaid.

The Nationals had Vidro, whom when healthy, is definitely one of the top 2B in the majors.
