two possibilites: people are sad (1% chance), or, people fear the beatings which are doled out for non crying (99% chance)

i am amazed that in 2012 a dictatorship can still be held so tightly, and the people can be so deeply in fear.

i have read in various books, from subjects as varies as war history to baseball, that koreans are insecure people with an inferiority complex. they are certainly odd characters to allow this, to allow themselves to be oppressed so deeply. i dont understand it really.

george bush likes to say that people crave democracy. thats true, kinda. but i think that some folks like to be controlled, they fear freedom and making decisions. they are like pack dogs, like on that show the dog whisperer where you actually make a dog happier by reminding him you are the boss.

It is indeed a strange thing. How so many can be controlled and murdered.

i am aware. it is awesome that the power of the state is so strong that they can basically force people to humiliate themselves this way. dont these yellow folks ever get tired of repression?

Another clear piece of evidence that gun control works--every time!

Easy to be repressed when you can only launch chop sticks via rubber bands against a militarized state.

NK--one of the world's true shytholes!

They are all still alive because the USA feeds them! For free. We pay the shipping costs too. Feel generous?
The astonishing amounts of grain & other foodstuffs sent to the PRNK are one of the primary reasons that we pay $4-$5 for a box of Cheerios!

    Fk all foreign aid!

These people have no idea that their government is holding them down. No outside information is allowed into NK. They don't know that they lead the worst existence on the planet. The only thing they are allowed to know is a steady stream of "Dear Leader" b.s. It's an entire country with Stockholm Syndrome.

It really is fascinating that North Korea can keep itself so closed off. They have no idea how crazy the conditions are that they live under and it would probably take years of convincing them.

This is not true. We have withheld all food aid to north korea since they broke the last arms deal in 2009.

The carrot and the stick approach has always worked better than the stick alone or the carrot alone.

Don't worry. Bachmann said last night NK needs to be put back on our terrorist list and we should be looking at getting into their business.

Man we have enough war for the next 50 years.

I can finally sleep at night.
