What good is the current system and the current coach if that coach is apparently incapable of teaching his system, or properly modifying it to fit the available talent? Or a coach who repeatedly makes mindnumbingly boneheaded play calls in critical situations? This kind of thinking got us the defense we had in 2008. With only one year under Chavis we have seen substantial improvement, and that's with a lack of big-time playmakers. We will always have young players who need to step up into leadership roles. Teams don't have the luxury of replacing non-performing coordinators only when they have 30 returning seniors.
It's just to painful to think about this decent man losing his job in these difficult times. Plus, it just wouldn't be the same LSU team we've grown a custom to these past few years. This man needs more time and apparently lots of it. He's got a plan, think long term. I feel like in a few seasons he'll have this team back where it rightfully belongs.:yelwink2:
:geaux: Yes, he definitely should be fired. Anyone who can't find a way to play Russel Sheppard in a game should be fired.:dis: :LSU231:
Of all the boneheaded mistakes that Crowton has made this season, my biggest gripe is the misuse of the enormous talents of Russell Shepard and Reuben Randall. Its a criminal waste of talent. Of course, Les Miles is the boss and he could have overrided those bad decisions if he had chosen to. The blame lies with both of them.
I voted no. I think he has been hindered by inexperienced, first year QBs. What plays would have been successful with the poor OL play this year? Add the fact that JJ could not check into the right play most of the time, read progressions, held the ball too long and your offense is doomed to fail. As the game slows down for JJ,the offense should roll unless the OL fails to improve.
all of that is true, but it has become very apparent that GC is not good at making adjustments or being innovative. The biggest thing that illustrates that is the lack of use of say RS or TH as decoys. Also being predictable by what personnel on the field. He was incapable of simplifying the offense. Also, he took away the roll out for JJ which was his strong suit. The biggest completion of the Cap One Bowl was to TT when JJ was forced to roll out. His offense is broken, period. He is responsible for our late game mgmt debacles, he has no idea how to call a two minute drive. We lose at UGA if JJ doesn't check out of the play and then CS makes a play! ALL CROWTON!
Geez is Brandon Lafell the only offensive Senior that had a really good year? Dickson wasted, Black underachieved, Hitt sucks, KW underachieved, Charles Scott wasted then injured, Holliday i guess he had a good year considering.
I can understand the no votes, i would have said give the guy another year until that wr middle screen in the bowl game with 39 seconds left. I still havent figured out a plausible explanation for that play call. It doesnt make any sense whatsoever, no common sense behind that call at all. If someone can help me with that call I would greatly appreciate it.
