Also as bhelm said a lot of rumors swirling around on this one, but as we have experienced in the past if rumors are swirling there usually is truth in it somewhere. I still contend we will have a change within a week, possibly today.

I am starting to wonder if the events of the past two seasons, capped off by the Ole Miss debacle, has put Les in that paranoid, stubborn mode that coaches go into once fan support has dwindled. Basically is he cutting his nose to spite his face with this? I think Les's margin for error is a lot slimmer next year if Crowton stays.

You have a coach, an AD , and boosters who all want GC gone, but the responsibility of getting the school out of the contract with zero to minimum payout has fallen on CLM's shoulders. He got GC the new contract get the school out of it.

Re: Crowton to Bears? *rumor* He was demoted mid season during his second year and left for BYU before the season was over. That quote is from Crowtons first year when his offense was new to the NFL. By the end of his first year and into his second year his offense couldnt do stank. The NFL D's caught on quick and it was completely nullified. Crowtons reputation is largely based on that one year in Chicago but people fail to remember what a disaster his 2nd year was. He was about to be run out of Chicago completely when BYU came calling. Crowton would do better going back to a La Tech type situation as a head coach or going to a team wanting to run his wide open spread.

With the schedule we have next year, and the fan base charged negatively, it would be worth every penny for them to band together and get him out of here. The money lost will be nothing to the money that they are going to lose through the course of 2010 if he stays.

Rumor crushed - ^(*(*% I know that if I were CLM and didn't have the support if the school or the boosters to buyout his contract, if I wanted to save my job I would buy it out myself. It ain't like he can't afford it. He would also probably win over the fan base for life with a move like that. Although I don't see it happening.
