Ok, back to football. I once had a former SEC DC tell about how he defended teams. He would breakdown film. He wanted the top 15 running and the top 15 passing plays(This was on teams that were close to a 50-50 mix). He figured if he could stop those, he had a good shot in the game. Like he said, an OC will go back to those plays, its his comfort zone. When the clocks ticking and he needs a play, hes gonna call one of those.
Yes, if you can stop the run and the pass you will probably win. That guy was a genius, had to be Tepper.
So Miles' philosophy, according to Crowton, is to be good on defense, good on special teams....but not necessarily good on offense? Are we to believe Miles rates his offense below special teams in importance? Win the game in the 4th quarter but screw the first three? I'm not buying it.
ISLSTL says he'd rather believe it from "the horse's mouth". I'd rather believe it from past history (BYU, UO) AND from the horses mouthS. Several players, as well as Miles, have all echoed the same sentiment. I'll take their word for it, and combine it with what I have seen with my own eyes.
Well said. I'll never understand why he would send in those garbage series, and almost always to the short side of the field.
Right. I can't figure out why so many are so quick to take his word for it. He was responsible for an offense that was among the worst in the country, something that has not been typical for a Les Miles team at all.
