During Crowton's last year at Oregon, Dennis Dixon was a poor quaterback. The next year with Kelly as the Duck's OC, Dixon probably would have won the Heisman if he hadn't of gotten hurt late in the year. I repeat nobody at Oregon misses Crowton.
Wouldn't have been any better. Mallet isn't known for being a smart QB and Crowton/Miles have yet to develop a QB into a better player from one year to the next. Hopefully Kraigthorp will be a difference maker there.
Steve Kragthorpe Bio - LSUsports.net - The Official Web Site of LSU Tigers Athletics :dis: To add, you are right, QB developement has been a downfall at LSU of late. Thats why Kragthorpe was hired.
I don't doubt for a second that Miles dictates the overall philosophy for the offense, and that Miles' philosophy can (or seems) to change from year to year, based on personnel. But even if true, was it too much to ask that Crowton coach up the offensive players and run a productive/efficient ball control offense the last few years? An 18-play scoring drive is great - I just remember seeing too many of them. [PS - My first post, after lurking for a while. ]
Oh my God who cares about Crowton and what Les did or did not let him do. Les is the Head coach and the Ole Miss and Tenn crap at the end of the game landed on Les and not Crowton. Watch the end of the Tenn game and tell me that Crowton sent JJ in the game with 2 plays. Tell me that Crowton didn't send in a complete package with new personel with 11 seconds to go. Yes Les is part of it but Les is our head coach and Crowton is a former OC get over it - move on - don't care
