This. Miles isn't going to tip his hat before the Bowl game, I don't believe. I also believe that given the chance Miles is going to find a home for Crowton before he would just let him go. That is his makeup.

That said, as I pointed out before Miles is the type that believes it is better to work with and give an employee every opportunity to improve and excel, rather than to fire them. Miles believes that he needs to work with Crowton and make him the best he can be. Part of that is to make sure that Crowton has all the proper tools to succeed. In my opinion the only reason Crowton would be back next season is because Miles may look at the past 3 yrs as, Crowton hasn’t had all the proper tools to succeed. That even though we had issues with the O in 2008, we had bigger issues with the D. In 2009 not only was the O stagnant, but it was partially due to poor OL play, RB play, and poor QB play. That in 2010 our biggest issue was poor QB play, with improvements in the OL and the run game. That Miles takes a big part of the blame in Crowtons failures due to his inability to provide the proper players that Crowton’s offense would need to be successful.

Now that the OL and the run game have improved, Miles is supplying Crowton with a somewhat proven high caliber QB. With all the pieces in place to be successful maybe Crowton’s offense will be successful. Unlike Mack Brown, who forced out his entire offensive staff that had been with him for years, having all of them be the fall guys for UT’s poor season, Miles takes the weight and puts it on his shoulders as he let down his coordinator by not providing him with the adequate pieces to be successful.

The other thing that has been pointed out, is with so many returning starters would changing the OC at this point be worse than sticking with Crowton, giving him a good QB and running his system one more year.

I am not saying that Crowton will be back by any means, these are just my opinions on what is possibly going thru Miles’ head and what he might do. I do know that if Crowton is back, many Tiger fans will be looking at next season with trepidation. Also, it will be a big gamble on Miles’ part to keep him, because should next season be anything less than a shot at the SECCG there will be many fans look to Miles much like the did for most of this season.

Honestly, I'd give it 50/50 odds. For all I know Les might change his mind at the last minute and give Crowton one more year to make something happen with Mett. All I can say with any certainty is Miles isn't very happy with Crowton, but that doesn't mean he's going to fire him.
