Glad you did, this wasn't aimed at you at all. There's just a lot of people who are taking Les' crawfishing and Crowton's retractions as concrete, gospel truth, when this is all just PR 101.
Agree, and that fact that you point out that this is just a bunch of coach speak out of Miles only points to the direction that Crowton maybe on a bus out of town after the bowl game. Not that Miles wants to keep Crowton around. As you said, if Miles wanted to crush this story he would come out and say, Crowton isn't going anywhere and I want him here. Which just hasn't happened, nor do I think it will.
Right he wants him back for the bowl game, and to work towards next season. All that is saying is he wants him to coach the bowl game and to continue to help with recruiting until it is time for him to go. Sometimes you really need to read between the lines of coach speak to really hear what they are saying. As I pointed out, the answer is more in what Miles doesn't say rather than in what he is saying.
So you ARE comparing yourself to GC. Hey I want help you. Since your loosing your OC to the Buffs I know where you can get a OC with several years of SEC experience. I bet you have more friends here than you know; someone reading this post will be glad to join in and provide the contact information.:thumb:
Crowton to Alabama? Sounds like a threat. We just lived through 4 years of the "jumbo package" with "Shula the least." Enough misery for anyone. So no thanks, high price for being a friend. Then what, Nootch comes by to offer a warm beer?:dis:
Might be a matter of who we think we can get to replace him as well. If Miles doesn't like his options, Crowton might end up staying.
That's a very good possibility, but it's hard to imagine who he could replace him with that could do a worse job. And it would also seem like the available pool of assistant coaches isn't nearly as shallow as that for HC jobs. With the recuiting, resources, and paycheck a potential OC would have here, this should be a very attractive position for a lot of people.
Don't underestimate the devil you don't know. People say that this is an atractive job, but is it? Rabid fans, a crazy head coach, SEC defenses.
