Studrawa too. The offense looks like a very poorly coached unit. You see teams with nowhere near the talent LSU has running dynamic offenses. The LSU offense looks stale. The O-line can't block anyone and the plays we run generally sputter. It would be funny if it wasn't so embarrassing to see LSU try to run the option play. I've seen Jr High School teams run the option better than LSU does. With JJ and RS at QB and the backs we have, the option should be a dangerous weapon that strikes fear into our opponents instead of causing smirks. We are just poorly coached on that side of the ball and if Coach Miles has any self preservation instincts he better see the light. Hopefully sooner rather than later.
It's always good to get an outside, objective opinion. Thanks Randy. What team do you pull for? I'll bet they're something.
Interesting article from the TP that sums up my thoughts on the game plan last Saturday: Analysis: LSU's game plan vs. Louisiana Tech puzzling | LSU Tigers Central - - NOLA.com
The guy had all day to throw the ball, how did the line suck against LA Tech, Williams had 100 plus yard rushing and 3 tds? maybe I watched a different game.
There was no one to throw too because LaTech dropped everyone in coverage... most of the time LaTech only had 6 in the box but it did range from 5-7 in the box... LaTech was playing pass all night... hence the first time LSU could really run the ball. Lee had plenty of time to throw, most of the routes were long routes, so either he had to throw it into double coverage, or he had to throw it in the small window on the sidelines between the CB and Safety in zone coverage... that is why Tolliver got hit. That was the only place to pass it. Nothing is going to change with that OC. All the OC had to do was call RUN until they put 8 in the box.
I have called it right all year... called it back in July. Scott play up the middle would not work just like it didn't work last year in major SEC action. Said, those QB rollouts, run options would dry up for Jefferson and he would have to show he can throw from the pocket. I said any RB or QB you have in there is going to struggle because of the OC. Rewriting history seems futile. What is funny is I am happy with LSU's personnel.... there is no reason why the Tigers shouldn't be a top 3 offense in the SEC with Jefferson or Lee. The OC has been doing the same thing for 3 years, he got away with it in year 1, by the time the 5th game rolled by last year it was all over. That was by far the worse game calling I have ever seen in my life. I was out here in the LaTech thread, screaming why are they not running after the 1st possession, LaTech was down to 5 in the box.
