No mention of a pending surgery in what I've seen. Anyone know anything official?

Here is the report, the injury seems to be false

Is he projected at SS or FS?

The injury is not false but it seems like he is going to forgo surgery as of now. Maybe he will wait till after the season or he could never get the optional surgery.

Only way it is entirely false is if Loston himself made up every detail of the injury because he spoke in great detail about the injury a month or so ago and gave very accurate details on the timeline for recovery and the procedures needed to fix the wrist injury. The information was not from a source but from Loston himself.

Well the staff has to have evaluated him to where is able to practice, because I dont think Miles or LSU would take that chance of him practicing or playing with an injury that could get worse.

That is because it is an injury that doesn't require surgery and Loston is not feeling pain from it at this time. But he was on the sidelines for most of practice so we do know he was not participating in contact drills. It could cause problems such as arthritis, etc... down the road if it did/does not heal properly. Some have no problems with it healing by itself and others do have lingering issues. I am sure his doctor gave him the rundown of the potential future risks based of his xrays.

It will be entirely up to Loston and his family if he will play without surgery. I am all for him skipping out on the surgery if he feels good about it.

One thing is for sure, we will not hear Miles discussing anything on it unless he has to.

My guess is that he's CJ's eventual replacement at FS. Chavis seems to look for a cover guy like Eric Berry/Brandon Taylor at SS, and more of a great athlete centerfielder type at FS like Jones/Loston.

Miles said he would play in the UW game. My guess is special teams if it goes through.

I would say it is safe to assume it has healed enough on his own to not require surgery.

Either that, or he's electing to defer the surgery till the offseason. Young guys like that heal so well that he probably won't lose anything by deferring surgery a year.

I'm excited about him playing...just another one of those true freshmen that will have an immediate impact this year...watch out !!
