No, not what happened to them. But what happened to the New England Patriots, when a little known QB named Tom Brady took over for an injured Drew Bledsoe and led his team to the promised land. Fast forward to 2006, when Drew Bledsoe is replaced by a little known QB named Tony Romo. Can Tony Romo be the 2006 version of the 2001 Tom Brady? He certainly has many of the same qualities as Brady. Calm in the pocket. Never panics. A good arm, not great. Leading his team without any of the fanfare of the bigger named QBs in this league. And I am sure he would like it to stay that way. Simply "manages" the game. Eerily similiar if you ask me.
I thought you would like this thread. The best thing going for the Cowboys right now is that the talk is about how well they are playing and how solid Romo is, versus the talk about T.O. That to me speaks volumes. Looks like they have turned the corner. PS - Giants and Eagles are done. The division is for the Cowboys to lose.
i know you guys all hate T.O., but he really hasn't done anything at all lately off the field... he hasn't even really talked to the media much period... which i guess is always good news...
As I was watching the Colts/Cowboys game, I got noticeably excited for the Cowboys at one point. About 5 seconds later it hit me -- I had just cheered for the Cowboys -- again. I still like to think it was because I picked them to win, and I value being right over almost all other things. But a darkside of me likes their personnel more than any team in the league. From TO to Spears to Glenn to Ware to Roy W....argh, DAMN YOU JERRY JONES!!!!
It's been nice for all fans not to hear any more stories about T.O. ESPN, on the other hand, isn't so happy about it.
I think ESPN has a guy devoted strictly to TO. That guy is just waiting for something to use. If TO doesn't take his dog for a walk on Thanksgiving morning, they will have a camp of reporters outside Parcells house looking for clarification on what it means to the team...
they do... that little twirp Ed Werner or whatever his name is... I am currently reading T.O's book, and i love the way he puts it in there, and the same holds true with Antonio Bryant yesterday getting arrested for DUI. "They have guys getting arrested from drugs, they have guys getting arrested for DUIs, they have guys beating their wifes, and not paying child support for their children, they have guys doing steroids like it's no one's business, but they choose to talk about me playing with a sharpie in my sock. If that ain't a vendetta, then I don't know what is." I am currently in journalism school, and we're taught that the 1st stories to report are ones involving the law. So why is it that starting 49er wide receiver Antonio Bryant got arrested yest for DUI and resisting arrest, but no one even knows, but if T.O. yells at his QB on the sidelines, it is on the national news the next day?
Perfect example: this assinine story on the front page of ESPN.com: http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2671982 "TO to not send McChoke a get well card." You've gotta be kidding me. I wonder if he was supposed to send one to Charles Spencer when he broke his leg, or if he should hope for some reason that the world won't be spared of McChoke's antics.
