Could the last and final series at the Box get any better than this?

The Eaters take the first game 11-5, but not without a good dose of controversy (don't all the great series in sports always have a good controversy story?).

Then in game 2, the Eaters have LSU beaten down close to the point of extinction, leading 7-2 going into the 8th, then the Tigers have a 2-run spark in the 8th, and absolutely explode in the 9th for 5 runs!!! Unbelievable!!! Especially since it was done against reliever Eric Pettis, who was #2 in the nation with 17 saves, had a 1.65 ERA, and opponents were hitting just .204 against him (after the 5 earned runs the Tigers had against him in one inning, his ERA ballooned to 2.62)!!! Don't mess a Tiger boxed into a corner!!! LSU just wasn't going out like that in their last series in the Box!!!!

"I will always remember this no matter what happens in the future," LSU coach Paul Mainieri said after the game.

I agree with coach, no matter what happens in the future, I will always remember this game, and what a great memory it will be for the rest of my life. Thank you so much team!!!

But, as I think we all know, the last series at the Box can even get better with LSU taking down the Eaters in Game 3 for the trip to Omaha!!!

The Eaters have been saving their #2 stud pitcher, Bryce Stowell (8-2, 2.77 ERA, .236 opponents' BA, 101 Strikeouts in 87.2 IP) for Game #3.

Yet, LSU will enter the game with the momentum and the heart and the pride on their side!!!

Blake Dean said: "We are never going to quit. We are never going to stop fighting. We are never going to give up."

    YOU'RE GOING DOWN, EATERS!!!!

    GEAUX TIGERS!!!!!!

Not sure if this was mentioned in the other baseball threads but today was the 12th anniversary of the Morris homrun to capture the '96 Title.

Not quite the same but still one of the best games in the last series in The Box.

My favorite part of the game last night was Jim Hawthorne's announcing (I was listening on the radio). He kept saying, "I'm looking at him and Pettis can't breathe. He just looks like he can't breathe. The tiger faithful have gotten to him." Priceless.

That was great. You wouldn't have picked up on that just from watching on TV. I listened to the WWL 870 broadcast on the radio because it's actually right on time with the ESPN broadcast. The 98.1 broadcast is live so it's always in front of the TV. Just a tip when the games are on 870.

After the crowd got so quiet at times you could hear a pin drop, it was obvious the intensity during the comeback rattled him. One of the most amazing things I've ever seen in person.

Can it get any better than this? I would submit that Leon Landry making the SportsCenter #1 play of the day twice does, in fact, make it better. :hihi:
