with all that in mind....i dont believe this years tiger team has the pitching staff to play successful small ball...which is unfortunate with the speed this years team has.
i have talked about the beauty of watching a great well placed bunt in before. yes, there are a lot more components to small ball. my argument of well placed hits was that a team is not gonna be able to always go yard when they hit the ball. and should not(and lsu will not) have that expectation and rely on "gorilla ball" as their philosophy.
Did you watch the games online or were you at the games? Your sig says you are in Orlando so I presume you saw them online. What was the quality? Thanks for the play by play.
You can have gorilla ball, small ball, big balls, blue balls, or whatever ball you want, IF YA AIN'T GOT PITCHIN AND GOOD DEFENSE, YA AIN"T GONNA WIN, PERIOD!!!!
I disagree with you saying that it was the wrong move. In baseball, you sometimes have to leave someone to take the lumps in the pitching department when you have the rest of the series and upcoming schedule to take into account. When the game is out of hand, teams will usually just leave one guy in to save the arms. In regards to playing the game, Duquayne's players showed a lot of heart in game 2 and never gave up. Also, last week and this week was pretty much the only time that their team has gotten to play/practice on a field as the weather in Pittsburg had been awful and Duquayne had been practicing only in a gym. Gym can not simulate a real live situation.
okie was speaking in the general sense of small ball.....i am quite sure she knows the specifics of it as you tried to explain we thank you for your help :rolleye33:
