The cornerback agreed to slice his base
salary for 2013 nearly in half to stay with the
Giants. He was due to earn $7 million in the
final year of his contract, but Webster's new
salary will be $4 million, according to an
    NFL source.

In 2008, he signed a six-year, $44.02 million contract ($20 million guaranteed) plus a $5 million signing bonus, a $3.6 million "signing" bonus in the second year, and a third-year roster bonus of $4 million for a total of $56.62 million...$9.44 million a year ($7.3 million a year base salary not counting the $12.6 million extra he got from the three bonuses)

Annual $250,000 workout bonuses are available in years 2010-2013.

Kind of refreshing in this day and age. Usually, when athletes say 'it's not about the money', it's definitely about the money, but CW can actually mean it if he says it.

Still, no matter how much you make, it has to be tough to give up that much money. 3m is still 3m.

His situation is obviously caused by the salary cap. The league continues to flourish and profits are up at record setting amounts, yet the salary cap stays flat. Looks like the players got hose again in the CBA.
