That too! Someone needs to teach our defense proper technique. On that 4th down TD pass, we're trying to tackle the guy at the shoulders. Not going to work. Plus, he was near the sideline - couldn't one of our defenders just pushed him out of bounds?
I think the point most of the O supporters are missing is he was hired to improve on what we had. We are worse. Yes we had a great year in 5 and I say to O "thank you", but the point is, while we can now throw the ball better we can't do anything else. We are still one dimensional just on the other end of the spectrum. In the process we have lost depth and line play. This is not where the binder said we would be so we are not better in a sense of consistency from year to year. As far as O's support cast he has been throwing Sh&t against the wall every year hoping something will stick. It happened one year that's it. Time to move on. This program is in worse shape than when O inherited it, from culture to effort to coaching.
The underlying premise to Niles' post is that the opponents "were the same teams". They are not the same teams. Auburn is actually worse this year than they were last year. They are the same team in name only. Same for Mississippi State. So, we played to teams that are worse off today than a year ago after LSU had one of the best recruiting classes in the country and we either A) barely beat them or B) didn't lose by as much. That is not improvement by any standard.
I have a weird feeling we’re going to go to Kentucky pissed off, you’re going to see up tempo and LSU is going win that game. Then we’re going to come home and Mullen is going to out coach the shit out of LSU. Then it wouldn’t shock me it if happens again with a win over Ole Miss and turn around and get beat by 50 by Bama. Then lose to Arkansas, beat ULM and lose to A&M. Something along those lines (flip flop teams however) all the way to 6-6. Simply because a roster full of talent with absolutely abysmal coaching.
I have watched them this year and their line play is the difference. They are physical on both sides of the ball and that may hurt us.
