This. The amount of piety from some folks over a freakin' bar fight is almost laughable. Almost...because it's become tiresome after a week of hearing that we are ThugU.
To call the LSU Tigers that did get arrested 'criminals' is fucking stupid, too. Anybody who calls T-Bob Hebert a 'criminal' can immediately go suck a bag of dicks for being a goddamn idiot.
I dj'd in several clubs back in the 80's. Bar fights were as common as draft beer. Cops were almost never called. In my frat, there were a half dozen dudes that were in at least 1 fight per week. They loved to fight.
Even when you put it into perspective as the OP did a great job of doing, you still have dickbags that want to be dickbags.
To the Cajun sensation fella Thanks for keeping it civil. I know many who don't. Again, I'm not saying "who is worse." What I am saying is recognize that you are cheering for criminals. Consider this: I'm a Lakers fan. I have to accept the fact that many Lakers fans believe Kobe is a swell guy. Common sense tells me that's silly. With your specific points, are you saying Simon doesn't count because his eligibility expired? Unless he graduated early, he is an LSU student. And for Hill, does that mean people are ok with that prior conviction because he plays/played for LSU? As for the incoming Jefferson, understand how serious of a charge that is. Every case that surrounds a popular athlete has friends who claim nothing happened. He is accused of assaulting a cop. And LSU still welcomed him. My point remains: we are all cheering for criminals and the least we can do is laugh about it.
the Fulmer Cup has been updated today. regarding Jeremy Hill, they said: "LSU. Jeremy Hill hasn't been charged formally yet for simple battery, but that should be two points pending a.) a single point for misdemeanor battery, and b.) a bonus point for high-fiving a friend after knocking the man out, something he did on camera."
Well, I'm an old bastard who had a bunch of fights over my younger days. But I've never thought of myself as a criminal. And I've never thought of the guy's I fought with as criminals either. If someone uses a weapon or beats someone to the brink of death I guess I would probably think differently though. But not for throwing a few punches. A guy like Art Cantrell I did characterize that way though because he was always looking for trouble and I also heard that he robbed a few stores too.
