There is always a next. I am sure you would like it to be a non point, but in fact it goes directly to the heart of the matter: not every employee of a Catholic sponsored university or hospital is going to be Catholic, or perhaps even religious. For reasons completely unassociated with sex, an employee who does not share the religious beliefs of their employer should not be denied access to medications that the employer deems "evil." To your previous statement that there is "no next," what happens when the church decides that getting a heart transplant is "evil" or when science makes new advances in medical treatments that run contrary to the Church's beliefs? Take stem cell treatments for example? Then what? I'm dead serious. There are a lot of people in this country who want to make sure that churches don't infringe on our personal freedoms by imposing their dogmatic views on the rest of society. If you think I am not serious then please explain efforts to propose a contitutional amendment to define marraige between a man and a woman. Now...please explain to me how the Church is not trying to impose their views on the rest of us? You are applying reason to the unreasonable. I think southerntgr has adequately called you out for this one.
No sugar, YOU missed the word "of". How many you know "of" is not the same as how many you "KNOW". Whatcha spect? She never has a period so you know what that means...
refer to the above post where Tiger in NC agrees with me. You can't have PMS without a period. With 3 girls and a wife you really should know more about periods. Nice try. What do you think PMS stands for? also..if you are going to get me with that pic you have to try harder. Women had periods long before mad cow ever existed.
For all I know Tiger in NC could be your brother, the priest. supa is one of the most intelligent posters on TF imo. On the other hand, you, by your own admission, struggle with your native tongue. Yeah I get it. You're on a constant "Pre" since you don't cycle. I understand the reality of it is nonexistent. Objection...it speaks to relevance.
in my life i have gone to the hospital for relatively serious things like 3 times. twice to OLOL and once to a catholic hospital in NY. and so i am in there getting emergency medical treatment and nuns are scurrying about and its the wierdest thing in the universe. like medicine is the most objective and scientific thing ever, and here are these low-grade sorcerer ladies going about, blessing everyone. is a wild contrast. i think "are we gonna pray for me to get beter, or are we gonna do, yunno, actual things that help me. but religious people are often pretty good at keeping a handle on the idea that you can pray but also need to take the pills or do the surgery. almost as if the praying isnt doing anything!
They are not required to be. They aren't denied access. Their health plan doesn't pay for it. They can buy it outside of the plan, get it through a spouses plan, buy a supplemental plan, or do any number of things. To say the Church limits access to contreceptives is the exact same as saying McDonald's limts access to pizza. Why these folks are scoundrels is because they are using government to coerce their employers into doing something they see as incompatible with their mission. Some understanding on how doctrine is formed would be helpful to you for this conversation, but there is absolutely no chance the Church would arbitrarily decide that a medical treatment is "evil" unless it violates some already existing Church teaching. Such is the case with embryonic stemcell research. It is seen as evil because it is based in the destruction of human life. The Church holds life is sacred from the moment of conception. The Church does fund millions of dollars in research for adult stem cells though, and that has proven to be the more fruitful course of research. No organization has the power to impose its views on society. Only government is capable of that. I am not aware of the Church proposing any amendments. I have no problem with organizations lobbying for legislation that is compatible with their missions. But in your case the institution is not imposing anything. The power to impose somethign rests with the state. Don't understand. Hey dude, how many LSU football players do you know? How many LSU football players do you know of? I know those to you and what's her face that is the same question. To anyone who knows what 'of' means, in that context, the questions are different.
