This is what will dictate if our defense ultimately succeeds or fails. Florida probably has the best O-line in the SEC.

...................Att Yds Ypc TD Lg Ypg
    Demps, J.. 28 304 10.9 .4 .41 .76.0
    Tebow, T... 55 271 4.9.. .5 .30 .67.8
    Rainey, C.. 31 261 8.4.. .2 .76 .65.2
    Moody, E.. 18 188 10.4. .0 .32 .47.0

With Tebow likely out and haven taken about 1/3 of the rushing attempts for this team, the onus is put on Demps, Rainey and Moody. Tebow's average is skewed downward based on kneel downs and sacks for loss, so he is closer to the 6 ypc range.

We had a helluva time with Demps and Rainey last year. They are super quick and slippery. The linebackers will have to tackle as well as they did vs Georgia and be technically sound. Anything less and we could be looking at some huge gains by these guys.

Moody is their more standard type back. Hard runner but not as likely to bust it for long gains. Not sure how much they are planning on using him. I think it all depends on how well we contain their scat backs. He should definitely be used as a change of pace back to give our defense a different look.

Demps worries me. He's as fast as Holliday but has moves. He's the kind of athlete that can take on our talented DB's and succeed.

    Demps is definitely a headache.

Brandon James is their Trindon Holliday. Almost same exact size and speed.

He has carried it 9 times for 52 yards. So they even use James in the offense the same way we try to use Holliday.

James has a whopping 34.5 yard average on kickoffs with 1 touchdown of 85 yards in length. Take that away and his average is around 27. So we must contain him from breaking one.

James has done absolutely nothing so far this year in terms of punt returns. 10 attempts for only 16 yards. That worries me. He is due.

i think we'll see how harry does at his new position.

just thinking out loud. with uf having supbar receivers but dangerous scatbacks, i wonder what would happen if lsu played eugene and hawkins at CB and used pp as safety, nickel or even hybrid LB. will lsu be wasting its best defender if there is no one to cover? he has the size and quickness to tackle and it seems he has good hands so he may be better utilized as a ballhawk than cover corner or blitzer.

I think we have to do alot of zone blitzing to stop their run. Their running game is based completely off of the zone read. Therefore we should play alot of intermediate zones and send the Taylor and Coleman on a zone blitz to close those gaps. Its easier to do this with Brantely because he isnt a bruiser like Tebow.

That is what I would do.

Deonte Thompson is their most dangerous receiver but has not had a chance to show much with the hamstring injury. I bet Peterson covers him.

I do understand your point, but believe me, Peterson will be required to come off his wide receiver blocking him downfield to snag a fleet footed Demps or Rainey a few times Saturday night. So he will have ample opportunity to help out in containing this dangerous run game of Florida's.

They don't have the receivers to hurt us. That's the problem.

So their passing game will be mostly limited to the TE and running backs.

The over/under on wideout receptions for Florida is 7.

plus they MAY want to take pressure off of a green QB on the road in tiger stadium at night even if it "quiets down real fast". plus they may not like to finish the season with the 3rd string qb.
