My first game in Tiger Stadium was the earthquake game. I STILL get chills watching the highlights, seeing and hearing the crowd, and knowing I was in attendance.

A ton of games since then have been close, but none have been better. No wonder I bleed purple and gold.

Loved Hodson, great clutch player, cool under pressure.

Could you imagine him on the LSU team the last few years?

And, yet, the fans were always calling for Mickey Guidry to play more. Sound familiar?

I was at the Mazda Bowl in 1987 versus the South Carolina "Black Death" defense. There were dressed in black. 3/4 of the fans there were dressed in black. It was Hodson to Wendell Davis whenever they wanted it. Carolina blitzed on every play and Davis automatically shifted into the vacated space and Hodson instinctively knew he would go there. Davis caught three TD passes before Carolina stared doubling on him each and every play. So he took two men out of every play and LSU crushed them.

Wendell Davis was clearly one of the best WRs ever @ LSU. It was too bad his pro career was cut so short.

He can thank the criminally shoddy artificial turf at the old Veterans Stadium in Philly for causing him to tear the patellar tendons in both knees. That was probably the worst field in the NFL and could have probably sued and won.

Wendell Davis ran pass routes as well as or better than anyone ever in college football. Dude was wide open every single play.
